Hi there,
If your site is using the self-hosted version of WordPress, you can follow this guide:
https://transferto.wordpress.com/self-hosted-wordpress-org/
If it’s not using a know website building platform you can follow this guide:
https://transferto.wordpress.com/drag-and-drophtml-site-builders/
If you let me know your site’s address I can have a look and help you with your transfer here.

Our former website was at Verizon, http://www.nycparrot.com. It was hosted by Verizon, but we used SiteBuilder to get in an edit it. Someone at WordPress mirrored our side about 2011, but that mirror is out of date now. Thank you.

It looks like Verizon web hosting is no longer available to new customers and they sold to IBM last year.
You should be able to create an export of the current site, with out needing the mirrored one, and then import it to WordPress.com.

Actually, the “mirrored” site is at https://awesomewebbuilding.wordpress.com. Whoever did that did a great job, but it was quite a few years ago. I’d like to use it as the the new website and we will then edit it once it is in our own WordPress account. So, how do I move the above into our account? Thank you.

Ok, now I understand better :)
The site can be transferred to your account from the owner. You will need to ask them if they’re willing to release their ownership of it and transfer the site to y’all.
The account owning that site is username pacestudent. I’m not able to give out any other details about the account.
-
Unfortunately, someone did this for us 7 ears ago; I have no idea who the owner of the account is.
-
Sorry to hear that! Of course we can’t just give a site to another user without one of these proofs of ownership: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery
But you would be welcome to create a new site if you’d like.
