Import sql file

I had a wordpress site on a private host. That host doesn’t exist now. I had only a file with sql format from the content of my site (backup file).
I want to import this content into my blog on wordpress.com but “import” section rejects sql files. How can I use this file in wordpress.com?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t. An XML export file is what’s required. You can upload into a WordPress.ORG software install first and then create and XML export file. Then you can import into a WordPress.COM blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

I believe you will ultimately be able to get your content ported over to WordPress.com, but there isn’t a way to do it directly.
My suggestion is to import your sql file into a self-hosted (probably local) copy of the WordPress.ORG software and then export an XML file from there.
We can’t really help you with that first part here, as this forum is for WordPress.com sites, but if you go to the WordPress.org support forum, they should be able to help you: http://wordpress.org/support/
If that doesn’t work, or you don’t get the help you need, I recommend you add a “modlook” tag to this thread. That will let the Happiness Engineers here in the forum know you need staff support. They may be able to connect you directly with people who can help you get your data into a format that can be imported to WordPress.com.

lol :D He needs to upload into a WordPress.ORG install, without doubt. Otherwise he cannot create an XML export file. He may also need to use an XML file splitter depending on what the size of the size of the XML file is. And, If he doesn’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG he needs to click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so he can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers. -
