Import stalled?

  Hi,

  I am trying to import an existing WordPress site (hosted on HostGator) into my old wordpress site. I was only importing content (I don’t need the theme or plugins used).

  I used the built-in ‘Tools -> Import’ to do the import. The export gave me an xml of 1.7Mb only. The import started at 600+ items, and stopped when 90 items are left. Waited a day and I did not see any completion emails.

  At the same time, my wordpress.com site lost a lot of navigation items in the sidebar. I cannot see Import, Pages, etc. What is going on?

  Btw, the site I am importing is a WordPress site that I manage on HostGator.

  If you can reset the import, is there any best practices that I should follow to ensure a more successful import? The import xml is only 1.7Mb, and it seems I can only either export all content, or export by individual categories.

  Update: I reset my site and imported again (same process) and it completed successfully.
