Import "successfully uploaded" but no progress since then

After importing an .xml backup, the import page said “Your file has been successfully uploaded. We will begin processing your import right away.” That was over a day ago, with no progress since then. Last time I did an import it was much quicker; should I worry the process is stalled? How should I best proceed? Thanks in advance.

I’ve reset the importer on deadengineering.wordpress.com to flush out anything that may have got stuck last time. Can you try running the import again?

Please start a new thread for your question and tag it with modlook. Once you’ve done that, we can check the importer for you.
Also, daft2jenta.wordpress.com doesn’t seem to exist — can you check it for typos when creating a new thread?

Hi, gemmacevans. Thanks for the assist. I’ve retried, this time with my export carefully broken up to make sure each of the five xml files is well under 15mb.
Each of the five files got me a “successfully imported” screen, but still no evidence of a go so far. What’s an appropriate amount of time to wait?

The import should finish within 24 hours. Check My Sites – Posts to see if any have imported there. Report back and let me know what you’re seeing.

No good, I’m afraid—zero progress. It may be a fault in how the .xml files were put together, so if we could please reset the importer again, I’ll try an older .xml and see if that successfully populates the blog. If so, I’ll call it good. If not, the problem will need further diagnosis on the WP end.

@scheinwerfermann yours was already reset, so you’re good to go.
Also, could you each upload your xml file to wordpress.com/media so we can check to see what’s going wrong? Thank you in advance.
