Import to a new site from old one didn’t work

Hello There,
Yesterday, I exported the content of one of my blogs to this new one. Strangely, I still don’t see anything in the media folder (except for one picture that I manually uploaded). Probably it takes the content from the original blog by using the “image address from old blog” instead of image in the new blog. But that would mean I cannot shut down my other blog. Also, the posts didn’t get completely imported – only 17 out of 658. Another thing – if I activate some of the themes, I don’t see the content of my blog thereafter, but rather the demo content of those themes only e.g. Mayland or Grammar One. The one that shows up my content upon activation, is AltoFocus.
Can you please help here?

When you import content using an XML file, the XML file contains the text content of your pages and posts, but it does not contain the media files. The XML file contains links to those files, which will be uploaded to the new site after you import the XML file by following the steps above.
For this reason, the site you exported from must remain publicly accessible until all images are present on your new site. If the exported site is not publicly accessible, then the media files will not be imported. The old blog can be shut down after the media has been imported, though.
If you change themes after you’ve imported content, then the new theme’s demo content will be added to your site, but this will not remove the imported content.
I suggest that you activate the theme that you want to use, then reset the imported site (double checking that the theme you chose is still active), and then finally import your content, making sure that the old blog is still publicly accessible during the import process.

Thanks, Edward. The original blog is public. I had exported the content from it yesterday to the new blog, and now it’s been more than 24 hours. Still, I don’t see the media in the new blog. What might be wrong?

It’s difficult to say what might be wrong without knowing more. Can you tell me the URL of the old blog?
I suggest that you make another export of the old blog, following the instructions in step 1 this guide. Then, reset your new blog, and start the import again.

Thanks, Edward. I did that with limited content instead of all and this worked. However, issue with activating the Mayland theme is still the same as before – it shows the demo content of the theme and not the content of my blog.
