Import Tool – "Set Authors" button
-
I’ve imported my Google Blogger posts from each of Google blogs, and now see a “set authors” button next to each blog. What exactly does this button accomplish, and will it revert to an “import” button when new blog posts are available?

Hi there, each post on a WordPress site has an author, which is the user who wrote the post. This matters most on multi-author blogs, where a byline is usually shown to display who wrote a post.
Once you assign your imported posts to a WordPress.com author, you’ll be able to complete the import process.
If you run into any trouble or have any other questions, just let me know.

Hello again Kathryn –
In my case, I’m the sole author of each of the posts on each of the google blogs being imported, and when I click on the “set authors” button, WordPress confirms this by sending me to a page which says as much. Although the page also says that I can “Use this form to move each Blogger user’s posts to a different WordPress user,” it does not actually permit me to do so. Instead, a “save changes” button sends me to my wordpress “posts” page identifying “doingjusticenews” as the author.
To recap, the import tool did in fact import all my google blog posts from all my google blogs and automatically assign me (“doingjusticenews”) as the author, but now the import page is saying no posts were imported (not true), and I can’t get rid of the “set authors” button for when I want to import new posts.
Do I have something more to do, or will the import tool know automatically when there’s been a new post on a given google blog and convert the “set authors” button to an “import” button, or what?
I hope this reply was clear.

Thank you for clarifying, it’s extremely helpful. I’ve reset the importer so you can try importing your next blog again. You may want to try doing them one or two at a time to see how it goes.
Just let me know if you run into further trouble.

Are you saying I need to repeat the process now to correct the problem, or are you saying that the problem is corrected for when I want to import new blog posts?
Sorry. I’m a tech dummy.

On your Blogger import page, you had about half a dozen different blogs “stuck” on the import process. I removed those in-progress imports to “unstick” things, and this cleared them from the import tool so they are no longer in progress.
If you still need to import any additional blogs, you can now try again. On the other hand, if everything is alright as is, and you’ve already imported everything you need into your WordPress.com site, you don’t need to do anything at all.
Let me know if this is clear, thanks!
