Import woes
-
I’ve recently closed up shop on one of my blogs on wordpress.com and moved to private hosting, got it all set up, wordpress etc, exported the xml file (~260k zipped) and imported the file through the manage>import feature. It says it does it, but nothing shows up, the site still has original first time content (one post and comment). I even tried it via ftp, just to be sure, no beans. I tried various possibilities, such as importing under admin, creating a user, adding under the same name as my user, still nothing, even with different themes (stock & chosen) it says it’s all fine and it worked, but nothing is actually showing up…
Any help?

Blayde – I’m really sorry bud. Most of us have never used the export import features and those that have don’t do support on these forums. You would be much better off asking over at http://www.wordpress.org where they will have more experience of importing to a self hosted blog.
Good luck!

If you exported the file, make sure you extract it back to an .xml file. Then just use the import function on your new blog in your admin to import it. Making sure that you have the correct file permissions on your “upload” folder is usually the culprit. Try that and if you still have problems, do as cornell says and head over for additional support to:
