“Import WordPress” can’t go the final step

I have a WXR file which I want to inmport to WordPress.com. However, after the upload process, I found difficulty on assigning user. Actually, there is no responses at all no matter how many time I tried.

Is this my fault? Or the problem of my ISP?

    Thanks

Is your blog hosted here at wordpress.com? If it is please provide a link to your wordpress.com blog. If you are self-hosted and using the software downloaded from wordpress.org, then you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.org/support/ . WordPress.com use a multi-user version of the software and few, if any, of the volunteers here are familiar with the wordpress.org software.

    Me too, Gander!

I tries with different ISP, different computers, different OS, different times, different browser and different WXR files. However, They always Timeout.

Somebody told me, the WXR file is to big, maybe.
    (Thank you, Mark!)

But, my WXR file just about 400kb,
Why? I’m already fed up that!

There is no danger of importing entries more than once, so I would keep trying to import it a couple of times. I had that problem once and after 3 or 4 times, it went through ;)

    Hi, Trent.

Can you please offer us with some useful solution?
other than please try it again untill it works. Cuz I’ve already tried many times, and I don’t see why it seems like I have to get it through by luck.

Because really, we haven’t got any more solutions for you. Sometimes certain things are glitchy and they get fixed when we’re not looking; this is why “try again” works. Your options are to try again, to wait till staff come on in twelve hours and ask them, or to give up. The one likeliest to solve the problem fastest is “try again.”

    @webd61
Are you by chance on dialup?

    Hi, Raincoaster.

Thanks a lot. I still trying.

It seems that you have just about tried everything (including “trying again”).

I tries with different ISP, different computers, different OS, different times, different browser and different WXR files. However, They always Timeout.

This is ongoing issue from 2 weeks ago, but is it with just that blog or another file from another blog? If it is that one blog, it might suggest a blog specific issue which would mean a little more testing with Staff (mark). I exported and imported again last night and this morning as tests with 600 KB files, so it isn’t completely broken for everyone. Maybe support will be able to look at the file itself for you since that is usually my next step.

    Hi, Trent.

    >just that blog…?
Yes, just that blogs, I’m trying hard about 4 weeks ago…and so many times.

wordpress.com isn’t my premier and only, So I must synchronize them.

  • There were some improvements to the importer a few days ago. It still has problems but your changes of importing a file are better.

If you’re unable to import a small file ( < 500kb or so) please contact support.
