import xml-file
-
Hello,
My import is taking more than 12 hours. The size of the xml-file is 23,7mb. It contains 2600 articles. The icon keeps spinning, even when i do a page refresh.
Is this normal? What can i do? How do i know the import works?
Thanks for your suggestions
(I am moving from a standalone wordpress site to a free version of wordpress.)

Hi there,
I’ve reset the importer on your site, but you’ll need to split your file up into smaller pieces before you try to import it again. We have a limit of 15MB for import files.
You can find a tutorial on how to split up your import file here:

the icon is still turning om my blog, so i cannot import. Didi manage to split the file in two parts.

I don’t see an in-progress import on your site, and the site logs also don’t show a new import. You’re importing to http://miketomaleblog.wordpress.com/, correct?
Depending on your connection, the file might take several minutes to upload before the import actually starts. Once the import starts it will take a few hours to complete. If it takes more than 24 hours, let me know and I can check if the importer stalled again.
I would suggest you split that file into more than just two pieces. Smaller import files tend to import much more easily than large ones.

On which site? I don’t see any import that is busy on http://miketomaleblog.wordpress.com/
Can you try importing the file here instead:
