Import xml file from previous wordpress blog

    Between 2007-2010 I had an active wp blog. I haven’t really been using it in the last 6 years, so I have decided to cancel my domain name (and hosting package). However, I’d like to keep a record of my blog somewhere, hence this new wp blog. I’ve saved the xml file of all my blog posts of my previous blog and I tried to import the file onto my new blog, but WP is telling me it doesn’t recognize any authors. What am I doing wrong? Is my previous wp blog so old the file can’t be imported anymore onto my new blog?

    What is perhaps another alternative to keep my blog posts alive (online or offline) after cancelling my domain name (and hosting package)?

    Hi there,

    Please be sure you’re following this guide to run an import:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

    If your author isn’t recognized you should see an option to create that author, or assign their posts to a different user.
