IMPORTANT/Free Plan: Can the navigation menu be sticky at the top of all pages?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am in a free plan. Please, can I have a sticky navigation menu at the top of each page? I checked the box STICKY (under position) in the Settings of the Row including the Navigation menu (in the template part ‘Header New’.

Please, I would really appreciate your answer.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hey there –

I’m not clear on if you still need help. When looking at your site, I see the menu of
    HOME - MASS - ROSARY - DEVOTIONS - RESOURCES
This menu appears on every page. Write back if more help is needed! Cheers.

Yes, true, thanks. But when I scroll down the page, the menu disappears (:.

How can the menu be always at the top of the page, please?

This is a bit complex to do right now, but I will hopefully be able to explain it in a way that is clear.

First off, you will need to copy the cover block you have in the heaer_new template part, and add that at the top of the content area (below the header_new part) in the page and home template. Then you need to remove the cover block from the header_new template part so that the navigation is the only thing in header_new.

Next edit the necessary templates (page, home, single, etc.) and put the header_new template part into a group block at the top, and then set that group block to be sticky in the group block position settings.

Thank you so much! Sorry, but it does not seem to stay at the top of the screen. Please, did I miss any steps?

  • Unknown's avatar

Please, let me know about it ASAP. Sorry, I won’t work on my website until I will get your answer, so that if it is not possible to have the MENU always at the top of the screen (sticky), I will come back to my previous setup.

Please, also, the reason I had the menu on the cover was to avoid THE BLANK SPACE, between the menu and my cover (big picture). Please, is it possible to delete this white space? Or to change the background to black in the free plan, please? Or any similar theme that would allow me this please?

    Thank you very much!

The menu on the top only works on my cell phone (: Not in my computer (:

Please, does the free plan support this option on the computers? When I visit my website on my desktop, the navigation menu disappears if I scroll down the page.

You would need to upgrade to a Premium or higher plan in order to use CSS to make that menu “sticky” – it’s not possible on the free plan.

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, are you sure? Because the menu is sticky (all the time at the top of the screen) in my cell phone.

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, I did not need CSS to keep it sticky when I watch my website on my cell phone.

I just followed your advice: “group block at the top, and then set that group block to be sticky”

  • Unknown's avatar

Thank you for the clarification. I apologize for the confusion, as I assumed that you may need CSS to fix the issue.

After reviewing your site, I can confirm that the menu remains fixed as you scroll down.

    .

To see this change reflected on your end, we recommend clearing your browser cache to refresh the page.

    I hope that helps!

Thank you! Sorry, I have cleaned my browser and rebooted, but nothing. I have also used a new laptop that had never visited the website, and an ipad, but the menu does not stay sticky. It only remains fixed in my cell phone: a mistery! Please, help.

  • This is how it works on our end: https://d.pr/v/XR3PZp on Chrome but I did notice that it doesn’t apply on Safari and Firefox. You could achieve that by upgrading to the Premium plan and adding CSS code as mentioned earlier. Alternatively, keep the current setup as Chrome is used by majority of the internet users.

Ohhh (: Nonprofit, sorry. Thank you.

Please, do you think if I change the theme, I could get it working in any browser?

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, it seems other users are having the same issues, but there is no answer here. Please, any theme with a sticky menu in any browser? Half of users navigate with other browsers. Thanks.

Sorry, I read other topics with similar issues: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/header-dropdown-menus-not-working-in-safari/

Please, is there any theme that allows users to see a sticky menu?

Otherwise, I will to divide my website in hundreds of pages (: Thanks.

  • Unknown's avatar

Sorry, I do not think it is Safari, since it is sticky at the top of screen when I use safari in a cell phone. Please, any other expert’s advice? Thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

I guess if this is not possible, it will still be more impossible to create a second menu in a free plan (as wordpress told me when I began)? Sorry, is there any link where I can read what the free plan exactly includes? Thank you.

SORRY, BUT I JUST VISITED MY WEBSITE FROM A LAPTOP WITH CHROME AND THE MENU DOES NOT REMAIN FIXED AT THE TOP OF SCREEN ((: ARE YOU SURE YOU USED CHROME? PLEASE, ADVISE. THANK YOU.
