Imported posts with a gallery do not display

I’ve imported (4.0 to 4.0) from a self hosted wordpress instance to wordpress.com. After importing many of the images in my posts appear correctly however posts which use a wordpress gallery do not.
The body of the posts appears simply as:
[gallery link="file" order="DESC"] -

@rachelmcr- Not to hijack this thread, but when I exported/imported my A Gallery Demo blog (in 2011) from A Blog Demo, the Galleries did not transfer during import because the image ID numbers changed during the import. Here’s the log (Staff only link), so I’d be very interested in knowing how users can fix this themselves now. Thanks

@justjennifer – When there’s an issue with image ID numbers changing on import, users can fix galleries by re-adding the gallery to each post/page. Since that’s potentially a very labor intensive process, staff can take a look to see if we can fix that issue in other ways. (The best way to avoid that happening these days is to import into an empty blog — otherwise existing media files in the media library can potentially interfere with the image ID numbers on import.)
@kburns1979 – In this case, since there aren’t any image ID numbers in your gallery shortcodes, it’s a bit trickier. We also found that some of the images in your galleries didn’t get imported at all. Our team has been able to fix some of the galleries so far, but we’re still looking for a way to fix this in all of your imported posts. Thanks for your patience while we work on this for you!

Our team would like to try emptying your site completely and redoing the import manually themselves, to hopefully get everything to import properly. That process will permanently erase anything you posted on the blog before the import, and any changes you made to the blog since you did the import. Is that ok?

I created this blog specifically to import from an existing self hosted one. Do you need anything from me? Import file? Access to the original blog?
