Imported text tiny, Wierd photo alinement, Can I work on dashboard off line?
-
I’ve been blogging for a few months now and am still only marginally more computer literate now as when I started ( yep I’m a slow learner LOL) I have several questions please:
1) If I type text on a word document on my computer, sometimes for some strange reason all or part of it goes tiny when I copy/paste into the wordpress dashboard page.. ( see my post Aug 13th as one of the examples)
How can I avoid that, and how can I fix it please?2) if I have a long string of photos ( yes my blog is very photo heavy), often I see all the photos in the dashboard but when I update and view the last photos are not there… Is there are limit on how many photos can be posted per blog post or per day ? or is this a glitch please?
3) I often travel and internet connection is not always available or very limited time, is there any way to post a string of blog entries say into “scheduled” in the correct wordpress exact dashboard page format Off Line? I find that copy paste text from word processing document and adding photos takes ages … (see problem4)
4) what is going wrong when I post strings of photos? they go all over the page ..? it takes a LOT of time to try and get them left.right or centre where I need them to be, often they overlap one another, I have to repost via trial and error constantly.. bad enough if I am at home with highspeed connection but hair rippingly frustrating if I have borrowed a computer and time is limited, am on line somewhere with dial up or where the charges are ridiculous etc.
I realise my knowledge is very limited, and that i’m no tech whizz.. any help to help me post easier and neater and faster would be greatly appreciated. thanks ! kiwidutch

Re no.1: When you paste directly from Word (or other bad sources), you often introduce lots of junk code that mess your formatting. The second paragraph of your Aug. 31 post, for instance, starts with this:
<p style="text-align:justify;padding-left:30px;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:sans-serif;font-size:x-small;>"
This, among others, says make the text black and the font no-serif (both quite unnecesary, since that’s what you get by default in the theme you’re using) plus very small.
If you want to keep pasting from Word, do it via the “Paste from Word” button of the post editor, or switch the editor to html and paste the text there. For the posts you have already published, you should switch the editor to html and remove all the code that precedes each of your paragraphs (such as the example I pasted above) plus the code that comes at the end of each paragraph (the tags with the slashes).Re no.4: Even with the lots of time you have obviously spent, you haven’t arranged the photos well, and you’ll never be able to do that without complicated html coding, because you have chosen a flexible-width theme. Try dragging the window of your browser to make it narrower or wider and see what happens! This should give you an idea of what various visitors might see: visitors with computer screens in a different resolution and/or size than yours won’t see what you normally see. So I would strongly suggest you switch to a fixed-width theme.

Or just center all your photos; it saves SO much time!

Thanks so much for the ultra prompt answers,
I will try and do my text and photos better from now on, I never dared to even look at anything before because I was scared I would mess something up…. and I know i certainly can’t fix anything !
You folks are gems ! thanks again :) regards.. kiwidutch. -
I’m a real newbie, and I pasted them in, too, which was a pain. Here’s what I did:
go to slide.com and go to make a slide show. You will see a place where it asks you to upload all your images. Actually, you are limited to 50. Go to browse where your pictures are, select the ones you want using the control key to get up to 50. Then you will be asked to sign in to your blog and given a long URL. Paste the URL into your post, and when you open the post you will have slide shows in all sorts of ways that appear automatically. You can edit your slides when you download them. They pop up automatically and can also be listed so you can move them. Caution: be careful you don’t download music with it. Apparently I did, when I opened my blog, I couldn’t get rid of it. Support was great. Hope that helps. Mike Smith from Boreal Blog -
