Importer issues with wordpress.org

  I have uploaded wordpress.org to a web host. I have uploaded the wordpress importer and have activated it. Now ehn I go into the import folder i get the following in a pink error box:-

  “Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error:

  Unable to create directory /home/londones/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

  Can anyone suggest what the issue is and what I need to do to fix it?
