Import/Export

    I am trying to import one wordpress blog to another to consolidate, but when I download the wordpress file it downloads as a zip. When I try to import that file as a zip it doesn’t work. I unzipped the file and it holds XML files but the import tool wants an XMR file. Why would you deliver a zip file with the incorrect file type? Is it something I am doing?

    Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
    If yes, what is the URL?
    Did you remove all spam, advertising, and unmoderated comments before you created the XML file?
    How large is the XML export file?

    Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the XML export file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the XML export file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

    It has come to my attention that yahoo is allowing government entities to read any and all of it's client's emails without a warrant. Please address all inquiries to (email visible only to moderators and staff) from this day forward.

    I didn’t have any spam or unmoderated comments but I did hit export all, and it saved as 2 files, which is probably why. I’ll go try doing it one at a time and see if that works any better. It says I am subscribed to this topic, hopefully that’s what you meant :)

    This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number

    Is the site you have the export file from still online?

    If yes, If yes,

    Does it also have an RSS Feed?

    If yes, what is the URL for it?

    How large is the export file?

    Yes the site is still online.

    I don’t know what an RSS feed is

    16.8 MB & 797 KB

    That is how the files saved, it says it must be 15MB or less but I don’t know how to trim the file.

    I also tried to exchange the pages as it doesn’t really matter if I use one of the other but the other is a smaller file or so I thought.

    That one saves as 17 MB & 1.83 MB

    Hi there,

    I’ve created a new export of your site and sent you a link via email. This time all the files are under the 15MB cap, so they should import correctly.
