Importing a blog

  Exported an old blog from Blogware.com. The file was a xml.GZ file. Imported into WordPress as per the guide and got the ‘All Done!’ message, which usually means that, but some reason the posts don’t appear? Checked the uploads and nothing there. What is the answer please? Thanks

  You’re at the wrong site. We don’t have the blogware importer here so I know you’re hosted elsewhere. These forums are for the blogs hosted here at wp.com since we run different software than the regular wordpress.

  Please head over to http://wordpress.org/support/

  My guess is that your wordpress install isn’t taking the file though since it’s compressed. I would suggest looking for a sharware program called winrar if you’re on a PC and using that to uncompress your file and try importing the result.

  Thanks for the info. I installed my own WordPress and needed a ‘key’ to activate askimet so I joined the forum, and posted the question. Probably the answer I need. Cheers.
