Importing additional content
-
Hello, I imported my Tumblr content some months ago, but have made posts since that time which I would like to import also and add to the current pages, however, I am unable to do this – when I try to run the Tumblr importer it says it’s finished already at 764 / 764 posts, when in fact I have 842 posts on my Tumblr and would like to top up WordPress with the additional posts. Can this be done?

Hi artgroves,
I’m afraid there isn’t an option to select specific posts via the Tumblr importer, so you will need to run the import again. This process shouldn’t duplicate existing content, only import what is missing from your WordPress.com site:
Come back to me if you run into any trouble.

Hi gemmacevans,
Thanks for your reply, but I’m still stuck. I don’t want to import specific posts, I just want to update the import to include all the newer posts that I’ve made since.
Your solution would be perfect but I can’t make it work because the “Import this blog” button is not there on the blog I want to import.
It says “Finished!” there instead, even though that particular upload was done months ago.

Hi –
Yes, you can do this. You’ll need to create a new export file from Tumblr. I’m not sure if you can specify the dates with their process, but if so, you could just use the dates to include only the new posts on this new export file.
Then, import it on to WordPress.com blog.
I’ve cleared out the old job, so you should now be able to run that new import. Let me know if you have issues with that.
Additionally, there are 800 posts on the blog. Some are private and a few in draft mode. See here: https://artgroves.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
