importing an old wordpress backup WP2.6.3

  Am I able to import a wordpress backup from a wordpress.org version 2.6.3 into a wordpress.com free site? I found an old site I’d like to revive to make a book out of and was wondering if there is an easy solution or if I would have to reenter all the data to make it work correctly?

  I do not have the WordPress eXtended RSS (WXR) file that the importer asks for, I have the sql database and files

  You can’t import from that. You could try using a local install of WordPress.org software on your machine and importing the files into that, then creating an Export file.
