Importing an XML file.

    Hey! My website was on blogger before. I am trying to import my old content. I went to backup and exported all my old content before moving my blog over to wordpress. I downloaded the plug in ‘UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore’ but it won’t let me upload the XML file that all my blogger content saved as. Help?

    K i went to tools – import – wordpress. run importer – added the XML file ‘blog-11-29-2021.xml’ and it says, “Sorry, there has been an error.
    This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number”

    Why?????

    Hi there,

    http://www.mandyshealthylife.com/ isn’t hosted with us on WordPress.com. Your site is made using the open source WordPress software made on WordPress.org, and hosted at another provider. It’s just connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

    So we have no control over that site, including the importer, and no access to the import logs to check what might be going on.

    But if I could make an educated guess, you’re probably trying to import a Blogger template. Blogger has two export options: a content backup, and a template export. One can be imported to a WordPress site, the other can’t, and this error is usually caused by trying to import the wrong type of file.

    Open the Blogger export file you have in a text editor. If the file headers are followed by a bunch of CSS code, you have a template export file, not a content export.

    If you have the correct file, but it’s not importing using that plugin, please contact that plugin’s support directly for help.

    Have you tried the official Blogger importer plugin? If you go to Tools ->Import in WP-Admin, you can install the plugin directly from there, and use that to run a Blogger import instead. You can also download the plugin from https://wordpress.org/plugins/blogger-importer/, and you can find the support forum for that plugin at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/blogger-importer/

    I also found https://wordpress.org/plugins/blogger-importer-extended/ in the WordPress plugin directory, which is another option you can try.
