Importing and exporting files?
-
I can’t upload files to my new wordpress from my old wordpress because the file is too big.
What should I do?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What are the URLs of both sites?
Is the site you created the XML export file from still online? If so post the URL here.
Did you remove all unapproved comments, spam and advertising before you made the XML export file?
Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

beautylovesbooze.wordpress.com
beautylovesbooze.comI should probably go through all the unapprove comments first… Is there a way I can break it down?

Hi there,
Which of the two URLs you posted is the new one and which is the old one?
If you’re trying to import TO beautylovesbooze.wordpress.com, we have a limit of 15MB on the import file. You’ll need to split that file using an XML splitter app before you can import it here. Cleaning up spam and pending comments on the site before exporting can also have a significant effect on reducing the size of the export file.
If you’re trying to import TO beautylovesbooze.com, that site is not on WordPress.com, so we have no control over its importer. If that site is telling you the file is too big, you’ll probably need to increase the memory limit on your site. Please ask in the self-hosted forums how to do that, as we can’t help you with that here:

That said, beautylovesbooze.wordpress.com only has 136 posts and around 200 comments. That shouldn’t make a very big export file at all, so I highly doubt a file from that site would be too big to import to a self-hosted site.
