Importing blog for testing new Theme

I exported and imported back my blog into a “practice blog” – to try the Twenty Ten theme that so many folks rave about
However, the blogroll is not showing – also, the image in the header did not change, stayed with the Twenty Ten look.
I am afraid this is going to be one of the naive questions that I should be able to figure out by myself, but….. if a kind soul could help me out once more, I appreciate it

The links must be exported and imported separately. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/import-export-links/
If you want a different custom header image you have to upload one here > Appearance > Themes > Header

That’s what I take for waiting for WEEKS before following your instructions!
What made me a bit confused, though – is that once I imported it, everything IS there in the Dashboard of the practice blog, just not in the “posted” version

ooops, sorry for the horrible writing of my reply – verb tenses, overall phrase, pretty messy… :-)
I’ve been interrupted four times while writing, and that will have to be my excuse :-)
