Importing blog template

I am trying to import a blog template provided by OCA (Open College of the Arts). I am confronted by a red flag saying ‘….API calls have been disabled..’ What do I do here?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
    upload any third party themes,
    create child themes,
    create our own themes,
    edit templates,
    create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.

    See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

There is no upgrade you can purchase here at WordPress.COM that changes that reality.

If I use one of the paid options then will I be able to import the template? It was supplied by OCA and appears to be a standard template that they use for all students.

I can no longer access the blog, and I get a message to that effect if I try. Does that mean that I have to set up a completely new blog rather than upgrade this one?

It isn’t clear that the download limitation is for all WordPress levels, the message seems to refer to the specific WordPress level that I am using. But thank you for re-iterating your answer anyway.

Nonetheless, what about the remainder of my concerns:

    1. Are you aware of the OCA template? My attempted download of the template was as instructed by OCA, who also state that the template was developed in WordPress, so it would appear to have been used before.

    2. I now appear to be locked out of my blog (which I am just trying to set up). Can that be reinstated or not?

    3. When I attempt to start again by calling up http://www.wordpress.com, I am directed to my previous, suspended, site, where I am locked out.

    How should I resolve this?

Thank you. I can do that if I can get back into my blog, (I would appear to have violated something) or alternatively start another. Can you tell me how do I do either of those things.?

  • Hi there,

I see our terms of service team has already replied to you via email and you should now be able to access your site again.

And just to confirm what @timethief said, it’s not possible to install ANY themes on WordPress.com, regardless of upgrade plan. If you must use that particular theme, then you’ll need to look into the self-hosted WordPress option instead:
