Importing content from another website

I have just followed the steps to import content from my other website (melaniecarvalho.co.uk) which is an old wordpress site, by exporting as an xml file, then importing, an xml file, however it doesn’t appear to have worked – the content hasn’t appeared on the new website. The old website is too old to add Jetpack

    Hi there:

On your other website, can you go through your installed plugins to see which one is creating relative links for your WordPress installation instead of absolute links?

Looking at your page source, your site’s links aren’t absolute, which is likely why the import is failing.

As an example, your site’s theme CSS file should be at this URL:

    http://melaniecarvalho.co.uk/content/themes/melaniecarvalho/style.css

However, in your page source, it’s being shown as:

    /content/themes/melaniecarvalho/style.css

Once you disable the plugin or service creating those relative URLs for your page source, run a new export and import that file and that should take care of it.

Let us know if you have any questions.
