Importing content from Blogger

  Hello,
  I am trying to import my blog content from Blogger to WordPress. I’ve ‘uploaded’ the file twice but I don’t believe anything is happening. Could you please check the status?

  What is the size of the XML file, please?
  Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
  If yes, what is the URL?

  Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

  I just checked and the file size is 120KB.
  The site I’m exporting from is still online, the URL is: my Blogger blog.

  Hi Miranda,

  I don’t see any stuck imports on your site. Did you select the Blogger option on the import page? If not, please use that.

  If you did try the Blogger option, see if it works if you use the WordPress option instead.

  If it still won’t import, let me know and I can check the file itself for errors.

  I just tried uploading it again, this time with some luck. It appears I was trying to upload the wrong file. I was uploading a backup of the template, not the posts and comments. Thank you for your comment or I would have never figured it out!

  BTW, do you know how I can recover my Disqus comments?

  If Disqus allows you to export your comments as an XML file it should be possible to import them here as well, but I’ve never tried that so I don’t know for sure.

  Otherwise, you can ask in the self-hosted forums if there’s any plugin or app that can convert Disqus comment to WordPress/Jetpack comments. You might also try asking Disqus support that. If nothing like that exists, then it won’t be possible to import those comments here.
