Importing data from wp.com to selfhosted wp

    Hi I exported all contents by tools > export of my site lalineamasondixon.wordpress.com and i Imported from the exported xml file in my self hosted wordpress installation (5.5.3). The process apparently went smoothly but then I found that only old 2018 posts were imported. I had the same problem in a test installation with another hosting provider. Can you please help me to fix this? Thanks CM

    Hi there,

    It can be the case that if you have a large site here on WordPress.com (and thus a relatively large export file) it can be too much for your new host to complete in a single operation, causing it to “time out.”

    However, you can re-try the import over and over again to see if you can get the rest of the content to import. The importer will skip any existing content so you will not get duplicates, and instead the process keep skip straight to importing fresh content from your original export file.
