Importing Diary-X entries?
-
I know you can import entries from other Blog services. Luckily, I saved my entries from Diary-X before it died and I would really like to import them onto WordPress. But I have no idea how.
Help?

I have this same question. And I actually can’t tell what format they’re saved it – it was the automatic back-up/download function provided by diary-x. The file type simply shows up as “File” and they open as plain text – every time I open one, I have to tell my computer what program to use to open it.
I would really like to find a way to import these, since I have hundreds of entries and I would really like to avoid doing them all manually.
Thanks!

when you open them as plain text, do the files only contain your content (either in plain old plain text or with HTML markup tags)?

It’s content only, with the original diary-x tagging info at the end of it. All in plain text.

When I moved from diary-x to my own wordpress install a few years back I ended up putting the entries into MT format, saving it as a .txt file, then importing it as if it were a Movable Type export. I only had about forty entries so it wasn’t that painful. WP has its own import/export format now, but as far as I know the specs aren’t published anywhere.
