Importing files from a Moveable Type blog

    I have a Moveable Type blog self-hosted on my website and I would like to import the archive files to my WP blog. I want it to be the same blog, just on a different, more easy to use platform. When I use the import tool, I get a prompt to choose files on my computer, but all my MT files are on my server. Is there a way to move those files?
    Any help appreciated.
