Importing from blog-city
-
How do I go about importing my postings from blog-city.com ?
I would like to close my account there for good.
Thanks

If you check you will find that blogcity is not one of the blogging platforms that you can export posts from. This may mean a cut and paste transfer on your part unless you did have an rss feed there.

Hello Timethief,
do you mean cut and paste the entire feed? Where do I paste the feed in wordpress? Or are you saying one by one and publishing as a new entry? Hope we can find a better way, there is simply too much to transfer.I’m obviously not too savvy about such details, but I am willing to learn.
Thanks -
I am in the same situation. I already have a 184 posts blog in http://ashik.blog-city.com and today as I found wordpress, I want to move those posts to my new blog http://ashikuzzaman.wordpress.com . My site has 2 RSS feeds – RSS 2.0 for http://ashik.blog-city.com/index.rss and Atom 1.0 for http://ashik.blog-city.com/index.rss?format=atom . Please let me know if there is any other way that cope-paste. I use blog-city’s free account which will allow me upto 2000 posts. Can you tell me whether wordpress has any such limitation and with free account how much space I will get?
Thanks.

We have an unoffical workaround for beta Blogger users that may work for you if you can adjust the count of posts within your RSS feed.
wp.com has not limit on the number of posts and you get 50 megs of space for uploading. Please take a few minutes and read teh FAQ sticky at teh head of these forums. Your question was answered in there.
Hope this helps,

I’m trying to help a friend move from Blog-city. The only thing I can come up with is that WordPress.org has an import RSS. I’m going to export from blog-city (they call it backing up) to RSS, import it into a dev site I use with WordPress.org. Then export it to WordPress, then import into WordPress.com as normal.
I’m not sure how well it’s going to work, but it will be better than nothing.
