Importing from blogger – no posts found!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi!

I want to move from Blogger to my own WP on my own domain. There was no way to import from Blogger to an WP.org-installation so I was adviced to import to WP.com and then import to WP.org from WP.com.

So, I started by authorize access to my Google account and all my Blogger blogs was found and listed on the import page. The problem is that posts and comments show 0/0. Nothing to import.

Then I changed my Blogger tamplate to a standard template. No change. No posts to import.

Very strange. Does anyone have a clue?

Don’t really have much of a clue, but have you upgraded your blogger account to the new blogger?

The importer to wp.com is now set up for the new blogger and if you’re using the old one it’s not going to work.

I don’t have a blogger account to try this this evening.

I’ll email one of my helpers and bug her about her old account and see if I can test it on that. Going to be tomorrow though until I get a reply. I do hope someone else can give it a shot between then.

As it happens, I do have a blogger account (embarrasingly!), if I get time in the morning (it’s 11.40pm) and I can remember the password, I will have a play and see what happens. :)

oooooowwww … tsk, tsk Cornell. Unless of course you’re doing some undercover work. ;)

Yes, I have the new Blogger and I have a standard template (looks like shit ;-).

I hope drmike can come up with something.

Any resolution for this? I have the same problem.

The posts show 0/0, although the comments actually have the right number.

Well if you’re using the blgger-rss-import tool, you’re in the wrong spot as your using different software.

http://wordpress.org/support is where you need to be.

if you’re running wp 2.1, you have a blogger importer built in and shouldn’t be using that tool. We have a blogger importer built in to the software here as well on the blogs hosted here at wp.com. It’s different software though.

    Dr. Mike,

Thanx for the info.. I’ll look for the import tool built in. But I also registered a blog here and got 0 posts / comments.

Got the same thing when my blogger was in another domain. I “created” a xxx.blogger.com, assuming it would make it work better.
It did… But it imports only ONE post at a time. You have to “restart” the whole process, get the authorization from Google, and hit import… It will get the second-to-first post on your blog. Quite depressing, as I have quite a lot to import…

Hello, I just pressed “import” with 0/0 posts and comments showing for my old blog…what to do? I don’t understand what you did Ramaral, did it become a manual process, if so, please describe in detail!!!! thanks.

Wanted to export from one of my WordPress.com blogs to another. Got the download file and uploaded it, got a msg saying server is undergoing maintenance that I should wait a while. Did so, in fact repeated the whole process 3 times and finally got msg “import not permitted”. Am trying to import from<rightofmiddle.wordpress.com to <conservacity.worddpress.com>. Anyone?

  • Unknown's avatar

My bad; last post contains an error in the blog url’s. I am trying to import from <rightofmiddle.wordpress.com> to <conservacity.wordpress.com>

I have the same problem. It shows up 0/0 when I try to import. I think the problem has to do with the fact that I have my own domain, as other users with the same issue seem to have their own domain too.

Too bad no one from Word Press can figure this out–guess I’ll stick with Blogger…
