Importing from blogger: You tube

  Hope someone can help. Imported with ease about 1000 posts from blogger … but within most of the posts are html imbedded you tube videos … these do not show up when the posts are imported to word press.

  These are not videos hosted by blogger … but hosted by You Tube with just html embed tags on blogger. Is there a reason they did not import with the rest of the post?

  Probably because we have a different setup here for YouTube videos. We don’t use the embed codes. The format here is [ youtube=url of video ] (without the spaces). You may have to edit each one.

  Bad news: this is a fussy thing.

  Here is how to post a YouTube on WP.com:

  So for your import it SHOULD work. Obviously, for whatever reason it does not. What I’d suggest is going to your Profile, making sure the “use visual editor” is NOT selected; ie you will only see the Code editor when you go to the Write page.

  Then try importing the posts. This should enter them via the Code editor, which I believe is where the embed code is supposed to be input.

  Try it with a few posts at first. If it does work, please let us know by posting back here. If it doesn’t, post back here to let us know and we’ll try to find another workaround.

  Sorry – I hadn’t noticed that they had changed that. I’m so used to the old way that I didn’t realize we now can use the embed codes
