Importing from blogger
-
hello, i did try the blogger importer, and yes it did work just fine…
but there’s 1 (very big big) problem, it can’t import all part of a posting, there is a lot of missing part especially with a long post.
how could it be, what should i do to make it right ? -
Mynk, An example of this would be?
alimarcus, that means blogger is down for some reason of the WP couldn’t see it. Happens all the time on the internet.
-
well its like in blogger i posted :
“1. blablabla…
2. blablabla…
3.blablabla….
.
.
.
x. blablablabla….
end
“Wp only import
“1. blablabla…
2. blablabla….
end
“
kinda like that…
(i am not good with words, sorry …)
i had tried to re-import it, but in status box (eerrmm what do you call it??) it shows that the post is skipped, parsed…( what else i dunno…)
and the posting is still like that.btw, thanks for your attention :)

Hi!
I get an error, when i click on IMPORT -> Blogger
Error:
404 Not Found
The resource requested could not be found on this server! Powered By LiteSpeed Web Server
Lite Speed Technologies is not responsible for administration and contents of this web site!Does anybody now, how can i change this error, or better, how can i import my blog from blogger.com, because i always get an error! :(
PS: I’m using FireFox, i hope this is not the mistake! ;)
-
Kosblog, I would send in a feedback or try it again later. I’m hoping that this is just a short time glitch,
-
Hmm, i get always the same error, is the problem on the blogger.com side, ore wordpress.com??
Is there any alternative to import the posts and comments into wordpress.com ?
It would be cool!
Thx.

What’s in your URL bar?
Is any part of the WP.com site showing up in your broswer window?
You can manually copy over. That’s really the only method I can think of.
I would send in a feedback with details and see if you can get a staff member to help.

I want to import the blog http://texasholdemblogger.blogspot.com/ to http://texasholdemblogger.wordpress.com/
I really don’t want to have to do this post by post, but the import feature keeps timing out. What do you suggest?

I get an error message that is completely off base:
There are errors on this form
Please fix the errors listed below and submit again.
You’re publishing on blogspot.comSwitch to: FTP (publishing on your ISP server) Or SFTP (secure publishing on your ISP server)
I already publish to my host and haven’t used blogspot since March 2003.
Any ideas on what I need to do?
-
IMO there is no one on this forum who can help you right now but I could of course be wrong. What I would do at this point is send in a feedback with a link to this thread.
-
Thanks timethief, I got some responses. Unfortunately no one knows how to solve the issue.
-
Orvet, might help us help you if you tell us what specifially you are doing and where this error occurs.
-
orvet: just a though, Blogger made some changes to their system (http://beta.blogger.com) this week and it may have broken existing interoperability.
I don’t know this for a fact, but I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ve been holding off on beta.blogger.com for some older blogspot sites because I suspect that it’ll break a lot of existing hacks I use with blogger (such as automated scripts to update things, Net::Blogger, etc)
-
drmike & engtech,
absolutely!
basically i follow the WP.com instructions for importing from Blogger. the error i described occurs when the import starts.thank’s for the input engtech, i’m a bit worried about the Blogger beta too… probably not the last time it gets mentioned here.
-
I’m seeing the exact same thing, orvet. I’ve tried about 6 times with no luck.
Error on form submission. Retry or reset the importer.

Looks like I jumped the gun a bit. Here’s the solution I found to work:
1. Log into Blogger.
2. Change my Template to ‘Minimalist’
3. Create a blogspot account.
4. Save all of this.
5. Log out.
6. Log into WordPress and follow the instructions.
7. Go kill the blogspot account.Tada!

A useful solution that should be ear-marked or placed in the FAQs perhaps as it comes uo sooo very often.
