Importing from hosted blog to my own hosted blog

  I have a blog that is 2 years old and has over 350 posts. I am getting pretty good traffic but I want to import the blog into a new blog that I am going to have hosted in blueHost. I want the added flexibility and feel the new URL will be better suited for search engines.

  I realize some things will be lost. I have 2 questions.

  1. What can I expect to lose?
  2. Will my new blog suffer because I have duplicate content. ( Eventually I will delete the original).

  I am just looking for advice on whether to do this and what I should do to not suffer the search engine’s wrath.
