Importing from old WordPress site

It’s been three days and my small import still hasn’t completed. I’ve been having this problem for over a week now. Time and time retrying but seeing no change. I exported directly from the old WordPress site. Why would it not work here?

Hi @nutheorymusic, that’s a rather large file. It looks like it is not importing properly.
Can you try making an export file again, this time removing any unmoderated/spam comments first? Let us know if that gets the file size down any. If it’s under 15MB you shouldn’t have any trouble importing, but we can also import here if needed.
You will also want to be sure the images at your old host are accessible.

Ah. The 600k+ comments…. used a plugin to delete them all and the file size decreased dramatically. Thanks! Didn’t realize they were part of the export.

Awesome. Yeah those out of control comments really fluff up file sizes pretty quickly. And if any of them have illegal characters or spammy sites in the links, that can also cause issues with imports. I’m glad that did the trick for you!
Just as one more check, do you want to be sure your images all came through? You should have the same number here as in the old site at the same location. If you don’t, let us know and we can try pulling them in from our end.
