Importing from Posterous

  I’m trying to import an existing blog from Posterous to my existing wordpress blog. I followed the import instructions exactly, but when I select the file and click “upload file and import” it keeps telling me there has been an error and that it’s not an xml file. However the file I’m uploading looks exactly as I’m told it should through your instructions (wordpress_export_1.xml). Not sure what I’m doing wrong? Thanks!

  That is not an XML file. It is a zip file. You cannot upload a zip file. You need an XML file. Please consult this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-posterous/

  It looks like you initially tried uploading the zip file with a .txt extension added, and later the XML file, also with a .txt extension added, as you can see here:

  wordpress_export_1-xml.txt
  wordpress_export_1-xml-zip.txt

  Could you please make sure the file you’re uploading is the XML file with no additional extensions, such as .txt, added? You may need to adjust the way your operating system displays filenames to ensure that it doensn’t automatically append the .txt.
