Importing from SquareSpace

  Trying to move blog from Squarespace to WordPress (online version, not version on my computer). Followed exact steps as listed on this blog: http://robpickering.com/2010/07/moving-from-squarespace-to-wordpress-3. File from Squarespace has content, WordPress notifies me of successful import, yet no posts appear in blog! Have tried multiple times with no success. One thing I did notice is that my Squarespace file exports as “.export.txt” rather than “.export.txt.html”. Should that make a difference? I’ve tried adding and uploading with “.html” added but still no avail. Have tried from both Mac and PC.

  Also must have done something wrong in my final attempt because I got an email saying import failed, yet when I try going into WordPress to try again I get a message “We’re processing your import now and will send you an email when it’s all done. If you don’t hear from us within 24 hours, please contact support, and we’ll get everything fixed.”

  My wordpress admin has been stuck “processing” a Moveable Type file for over 2 weeks now (well actually, since I originally made this post). Can this be reset so I can attempt to try again??

  I’ve reset your importer so you can try again.

  Is it possible to export an XML file from Squarespace? That’s the file type that tends to work best, and I see intruuctions for generating that export here:

  I am not sure those directions are relevant anymore – my squarespace settings options looks nothing like that!

  I don’t know what happened but 2+ weeks after trying to import, I just got an email saying import successful and now my data is there! Woohoo!
