Importing from Squarespace – How to get pictures

    Hello Everyone,

    i imported my squarespace blog into wordpress. Everything works fine – but the pictures still link to “static.squarespace…”. If i cancel the squarespace account I am scared the pictures wont work anymore.

    All pictures show up in my wordpress media library. Is there anyway to move the pictures over to wordpress? Somehow even the Data usage in my wordpress account shows 500mb- like it might have moved the pictures too, but as I said the links on the pictures still suggest they are at squarespace.

    If the pictures are in your media library then they have been imported. The link is merely where visitors get redirected when they click on the image. You can change that by clicking on the image in a post, click on the pencil icon, then look for the Link To option in the pop-up. Change that to another URL, media file, attachment page, or even no link at all, update the image, and update the post.

    Test it by deleting one image from Squarespace (make sure you have a backup of it), clearing your browser cache, and then looking if the image is still on your blog. If you can still see the image then it has imported correctly. Clicking on it will probably then lead to an error message on Squarespace. Just make sure that all your images are in the media library before you delete them from Squarespace.

    That article applies only to self-hosted WordPress.ORG installs, NOT free WordPress.com blogs. We do not have the ability to install plugins here and NONE of the information in that article is applicable.
