Importing from tumblr

    Stupid question – presumably wordpress copies the site but doesn’t delete the tumblr site??? They send an e mail message saying ‘Goodbye tumblr, hello wordpress’ when you start importing and I thought HELP – I just want a back up!! Thanks for any reassurance you can give before I resume import! x

    Hi there,

    I have performed an import testing using my own Tumblr blog, my content on Tumblr is still intact.

    So rest assure that WordPress.com DOES NOT delete your content during the import.

    Thanks so much staff-zara – it was just the e mail that threw me so thanks for the confirmation. I checked out the reviews and some old one’s were saying some content on tumblr had been changed after the import. Apart from resizing photos smaller I can’t see any problems. It’s reassuring to have a back up of posts.

    Do you experience the same on your Tumblr blog? I’m a bit doubtful on the photo resizing part though.

    No problems with the resizing pics on tumblr site but the imported files have the photos smaller in WP. No problem for me but might be for others. Best thing about this importer is that the tags are intact so you can look things up easily. I’ve already recommended this importer to others. x

    If you don’t mind, could you share me a sample post URL in both WordPress.com and Tumblr for a quick check on the image size? Just for my own learning purpose to find out if the image size indeed becomes smaller through the import.

    Did another check and it seems the posts with the smaller pics are fine if you click on them. I think that tumblr resized them bigger rather than this importer making them smaller so all fine thanks. x

    I see. Another factor to determine the image size could be related to the default image size configured in different themes.
