importing from tumblr

  Hey, yesterday ~midday I started trying to import my tumblrblog but after 4 hours it still wasn’t showing any progress so I stopped and restarted it. However, when I tried to restart it gave me this error message: ‘You can only have one running import at a time. Please wait for the current one to complete.’ It still isn’t showing any progress in the Action/Status section, however. So I’d just like to know how I can tell if the import is still running and, if it isn’t, how I can restart it again.

  It would be best not to refresh but to leave it running until at least 24 hours has elapsed. Then if there has still been no progress return to this thread and add a modlook tag to the box on the right to ask staff to reset the importer at their end.

  Hi there,

  I’ve double checked to confirm your import is indeed still queued. It didn’t cancel. But please do reconnect to your Tumblr account if you’ve disconnected it.

  Our queue has a lot of requests waiting right now, and right now a wait time over 24 hours is normal. I recommend checking back on it later this evening or tomorrow.

  Okay: looking at the support forum I see y’all are being pretty hard-hit by other tumblrers looking to back up their blogs.

  Just checking back in to let you know mine’s still stalled; not to complain about it or anything, but just so y’all know in case that info’s important for anything. I’m going to look into third part archive options that’ll save what I’m looking to preserve on my harddrive, so if cancelling my import would help your servers feel free to do so. Thanks again for your initial response, and good luck handling this unexpected strain <:)

  Hi there,

  It looks like the import on your site has completed – some content has been imported, and no import is currently running.

  If you’re still missing posts, please restart the import now – posts already on your WordPress.com site will be skipped by the importer. It might take a while to complete, though, as we’re still seeing a lot of new Tumblr imports being created so there’s still a backlog. At this point I’m not able to give an estimate on how long it might take to catch up with the backlog, though.
