Importing from Tumblr

    I first imported my blog from Tumblr to WordPress a couple of years ago as a way of backing up. But I then continued to use Tumblr. Now I want to do the same again and move my blog over, it won’t let me because it is registering the blog as ‘finished’ but since my first import i have posted 3000 more posts, so there’s a great deal I need to import. I don’t particularly want to start to import all 6000 posts again, so is there any way to get it to register that I have added more posts and for it just to continue from where I left off?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    Disconnect in the importer on your site, go to the Apps section in Tumblr settings and remove WordPress there, and then try starting the import again.

    The importer should automatically skip any previously imported posts, so they won’t be imported again. It might take a while, though – we have a pretty big influx of Tumblr import so your import might sit in the queue for a few days before it will be processed.

    @kokkieh

    I just tried this and word press still isn’t recognising the new posts that have gone up on tumblr and just says that it’s finished.

  • We don’t see any active imports currently. Can you try once more and also link us to the tumblr site?

  • Oh I did notice too: your media library is completely full. Anything more you try to import will not include images unless you upgrade to get more space.

    Personally I’d recommend upgrading to Premium, then backing that down after you finish importing if you don’t need all of that space.
