Importing from Tumblr problem
-
I attempted to Import, but there was no progress after a few hours. I tried to restart by ‘Clear Account Information,’ but after clicking Import again, it gave me an error message saying there was already an Import in progress. It has now been 24 hours, and I see no posts imported whatsoever.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’ve double checked to confirm your import is still queued. It didn’t cancel. But please do reconnect to your Tumblr account if you’ve disconnected it, as that could be preventing it from starting.
We’re processing quite a few imports from Tumblr at the moment, which is causing a backlog of imports in our system. While it may look like your import failed, it’s just in line for processing, and luckily it’s still in the queue. Please give it another 24 hours, and if it hasn’t completed by then, update us here.
-
So as to not flood this place with threads, how long do you suspect the backlog will be? Will I get a notification when it’s done, or should I keep that tab open?
I totally understand that recent events have caused quite a bit of importing, so no rush on my end, I just don’t want to leave it alone only to find out later that nothing actually happened.

Hi stevenuniversally-
Can you let me know which site you’ve started the import for? Then I can take a look at the status.
I don’t know how long it’s going to take to get through the queue. The jobs are queued up as they come in to us, rather than based on size of file or anything… You’ll need to make sure that the Tumblr blog remains connected to WordPress.com, otherwise the import will fail. Once it starts, the process should conclude with in 24 hours.

@stevenuniversally yours is waiting in the queue. Give it a day or so, then if it didn’t import or if you need more help, do you mind starting your own thread and adding a “modlook” tag to it? Since staff needs to check each site individually, separate threads are helpful for avoiding mixups. Thanks!

Welp, it’s been 48 hours. Added the tags modlook and tumblr import.
Worst case, just lemme know my position in the queue; I feel like we got plenty of time until the 17th.
Also, should I just leave the import tab open and my computer running, or is it all backend?

Well, it finally started… And it only got about 25% through before I ran out of upload space.
Honestly, I’m not that bothered about saving all my reblogs, but I would like my Original Posts. How do I find and save JUST those?

I’m uploading my photo gallery (6,000 photos) from Tumblr, but it’s been three days and the progress bar hasn’t changed! I disconnected and reconnected to Tumblr in hopes of fixing it. Please help.

It looks like the import on your site has completed – some content has been imported, and no import is currently running.
If you’re still missing posts, please restart the import now – posts already on your WordPress.com site will be skipped by the importer. It might take a while to complete, though, as we’re still seeing a lot of new Tumblr imports being created so there’s still a backlog. At this point I’m not able to give an estimate on how long it might take to catch up with the backlog, though.
If you’ve hit our 3GB media upload limit you can add more space by upgrading to any of our paid plans. This storage limit only applies to media files, though, not to the posts themselves.
@dragonbat360 and @italianhunks,
Please create your own threads at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 and include a link to your site, and we can help you there. Make sure to add the tags
modlookandtumblr importto your thread so we don’t miss it. -
Yeah, unfortunately, a lot of my Tumblr is basically reblogging reaction gifs, so there’s a lot of media to go through. I’m not worried about those.
Is there a way to only import my Original Posts, not the reblogged stuff?
-
There’s no way to selectively import from Tumblr, no – the importer was built to migrate a full site only
