Importing from wordpress hangs

Add topic to favorites
importing hangs after choosing wordpress content. I cannot choose the exported file.
It displays “working and importing my stuff but I could not even choose the file

That’s very strange. Please tell us:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/

Hi @anjinsan383,

I just took a look at juwelenkimpe.wordpress.com, but it doesn’t look like the WordPress importer is stuck. Did the import eventually go through?

I tried to import pages from juwelenkimpe.wordpress.com to jukimgemmoloog.wordpress.com especially the pages concerning “gemmoloog”. The export resulted in a file named juwelenkimpe.wordpress.2015-02-05 (2).xml
Trying to import that in jukim.gemmoloog.wordpress.com I choose wordpress….and then nothing happens anymore. I cannot choose the xml file and I get a display message…..Wordpress is importing, if you don’t hear anything from us in 24 hours contact support…

I have a printscreen of that message but unfortunately I cannot attach this to this message

I use a desktop computer running windows 8.1 dutch version and browser google chrome version 40.0.2214.91m

remains empty

I tried again. I exported resulting in a file juwelenkimpe.wordpress.2015-02-08.xml . Then I switched to the new website jukim.gemmoloog.wordpress.com and started an import from the above file. I could now choose the file but nothing happens after that.
I receive the same message as mentioned above…..
Now I wait for 24 hours…
For the moment, the pages remain empty

Very strange. I tested your export file and was able to get it to import into a test site–but not your site.

I noticed you have some old pages in your trash folder. Could you try deleting those and then retrying the import? Here’s a direct link:

If any of them have titles that match the ones you are trying to import that could be hanging things up.

As you suggested I deleted the trash folder and retried the import.
Fail….

The reason why I want to import them into jukimgemmoloog.wordpress.com is that in juwelenkimpe.wor… I’m going to delete them there and only put a link to the new website.
That gives me the opportunity to work on the gemmoloog site without disturbing the juwelen site.
I appreciate your help. Hopefully we can come to a solution

I started a new site named sananjin383.wordpress.com and strangely enough I could import the required pages from juwelenkimpe.wordpress.com. Importing in jukimgemmoloog.wordpress.com is still not possible. I noticed on this forum that several people encounter the same importing problems.

Just correct me if I’m wrong: copying a single page from one website to another is also not possible

Anyway I could resolve my problem with a workaround. Thank you for the assistance

I’m glad to hear you were able to move the content to a new website. Is it important for us to get the other import to work or are you good?

That’s true. We were having a problem with the importer that impacted many people. The problem is resolved now so it shouldn’t be a problem going forward.

It depends on what you mean by copy. You could absolutely copy the text from the editor of one website page site and paste it into the editor of another website page. It would be time consuming but would work pretty seamlessly. It’s not possible to copy the layout and functionally of one website to another by copy/paste. Does that help?
