Importing from WordPress to a new Wix site.
-
I’ve been in contact with Wix about importing from WordPress to my new Wix site and they said I need to contact WordPress as my blog’s /wp-json/wp/v2/posts redirects to /blog/ when it should go to the JSON file.
Could I get some help figuring out why that is?
Thanks!

Hi there,
I quickly reviewed the steps Wix recommends here: https://support.wix.com/en/article/wix-blog-importing-blog-posts-from-wordpress-to-the-wix-blog#troubleshooting-import-issues
However, WordPress.com does not use a JSON file to transfer data from the web application to a server. It seems that the issue they are referring to is regarding self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.
To clarify, WordPress.com is a managed WordPress service, and we use a modified variant of the open-source WordPress software that other providers use. That is why URLs like this (which Wix recommends accessing in their FAQ) do not work on WordPress.com: https://abigailkayharris.wordpress.com/wp-json/wp/v2/posts
In this case you may need to clarify this with Wix support as they may not be aware that your site originates with WordPress.com and does not use the self-hosted version of the platform. They may be able to offer a workaround in this case, knowing that we do not use JSON files in the way that they are expecting.
You can share this link with them which may also help clarify: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
