Importing from Xanga not working

I’m trying to import archived blogs from Xanga and only the first of eleven files has downloaded. I can’t get the rest to show up on my page. It says the download is complete but they aren’t there.

Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

I don’t see any evidence of recent imports being made on that site at all. Did you upload the files on this page?

Also note that if you got a zipped folder from Xanga, you need to unzip the folder and upload the individual XML files one at a time. Please see the support doc @timethief linked to above for more info.

I have the files saved in a folder, I opened each individually from the zipped file. There are eleven total. I have been able to only upload one of them and I set it to private so only I can see the content. I’ve tried to upload the other ten and while it tells me they are uploaded they are not there.
Thanks for your help thus far. I will keep plugging away at it.

Your site’s logs show that you’ve uploaded 5 files so far: numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 11. So it looks like the other files did not upload.
If possible, can you try using a different browser to upload the rest? That sometimes helps.

yes, I know that. It tells me the download is complete but there is nothing new added to the first file I downloaded. I “completed” 1-4 and 11 but only the first one showed up.

When you say “only the first one” which file specifically are you speaking of? I can see which files you uploaded, but not the order in which you added them.
And have you tried a different browser as I suggested? If that doesn’t work, can you try getting new export files from Xanga and using those instead?

When you get a new export from Xanga, please also send them to me so I can check the files for errors. I’ve sent an email to the address on your account. You can send the files as an attachment to your reply.
