Importing images and uploaded files from Typepad
-
Hello.
I have a blog on Typepad, that I am attempting to import to my blog here on WordPress.com. Typepad provides the typical .txt export file of posts and comments, but they also have provided me with a backup file of all the images and uploaded files for that blog. It is a zipped file with the extension .tar. According to Typepad, if both files are imported, then the images that were part of the original posts on Typepad will appear in those same posts on the new blog service. Is there a way to get these images and files uploaded/imported to my account en masse?
Thank you.

Hello there!
The link that timethief provided contains all the information you need to correctly download your Typepad export so it can be uploaded at WordPress.com.
According to Typepad, if both files are imported, then the images that were part of the original posts on Typepad will appear in those same posts on the new blog service.
At WordPress.com, bulk media uploads cannot be completed. The images would have to be moved as attachments within your XML file, or manually. That zipped bulk file can only be uploaded to a self-hosted instance of WordPress.org.
Please follow the instructions provided in that link, and let me know if you need assistance along the path. Thanks much!
