Importing old blog, no images
-
Probably a lost cause but I thought I’d see if anyone could help anyway.
I exported the contents of my old blog (Lolarainxx.wordpress.com) in 2015 before I deleted it. I have the XML file saved. Recently I decided to restore it so I could read through my old posts. I imported it into my current blog. All the posts are there, but none of the images are.
I’m sure I exported the media when I left, but none of the media files show up in images.
Is this a lost cause or is there a way to recover these images?
Can link to XML file if needed. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
A WordPress XML export can move your images and other media. However, it’s important to know that XML export files don’t contain any actual images or media files. Instead, they contain links to images and other media, which will transfer to the new site after you import the XML file to that site. This behavior is consistent with the WordPress software.
For this reason, the site you exported from must remain publicly accessible. Since it sounds like you already deleted the original site, I’m afraid any media tied to that site would have been long deleted from our system since anything past 30 days from deletion is removed.
It looks like Archive.org’s Wayback machine has a snapshot of your site from 2015 that seems to have your images cached. You would need to download each image separately and re-attach them to your imported site, but you could get them that way. Otherwise, there’s nothing else we can do, unfortunately.
Hope that helps a bit!

I thought so. I’ve already downloaded all the images I can from the Wayback Machine, unfortunately, most of the ones I want also show up as broken file links even on there.
I guess they’re lost forever :(
Thanks for the help.
