Importing Old Posts

    Hello!

I am trying to import posts from an old blog onto a new one I’m creating, as a secondary page. Can someone please help me with this process? I’ve already set the posts up under a separate category, but I don’t understand what to do next. Everything I’ve read has then said to make some change to an index.php file by changing some code, but I have no idea where to do that, or how.

    Please help!

    Best,
    armstrdw

PS: The blog that I’m trying to do this for is devonsdigs.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Trash whatever you are reading as it does not apply to a free hosted WordPress.com blogs; it applies only to WordPress.org installs.

What do you mean by “secondary page”? There is only one main page for posts in any blog and you cannot change that.

I realize that I cannot change the setting for one main page. What I mean by “secondary page” is another page on the site, as a static page. I’ve tried to use your suggestions from another thread to do it, but I think I may have completely messed myself up. The instruction you gave were on this thread:

    See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/#create-a-new-page
Don’t forget to add it to the custom menu > http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages

Your challenge is that you chose a theme that does not have a horizontal menu bar. That means you have to use a custom menu widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/ I would change themes rather than doing that but the decision is yours to make.

    Hey!

I actually just figured out the solution for myself! I was having a problem with creating a menu, as the other pages woudn’t appear. However, I figured out that I needed to put all my pages into the menu to have them all appear, in conjunction with categorizing each post separately, depending on which “blog” i wanted to post them in (I know that they don’t actually split, but I wanted that illusion). It’s all set. Thanks!

Yay! You have resolved your issues. You’re welcome. :)
