Importing phpBB 3 Topics

Hi all. I discovered WordPress yesterday and I’m thinking to myself, “where have I been?”. I’m a beginner when it comes to CMS based websites, and not having the knowledge to build a system like this, nor the money to have one developed, I had to look to other options. My deal is that I manage the website of a small-town newspaper in Thabazimbi, South Africa. Even though it’s a small town with not too much news, going the route of static HTML pages for every news item is out of the question. It was very time consuming. So I started looking for other, easy-to-use solutions. I then decided to use the website’s forum to start posting the news articles, and I was fairly satisfied, until I discovered WordPress. I’ve now decided to use WordPress for posting news articles, but I have one problem. I really, really don’t want to spend all that time copying and pasting from the phpBB 3 forum to WordPress to get all my news items allready on there to the new platform. phphBB also runs on a SQL database on our web server so I was hoping that there might be a simpler solution. I see WordPress comes with ‘Import Utilities’ – is there any such utility to import topics from a phpBB 3 forum?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you at WordPress.com, or are you independently hosted? The sticky thread marked Read Me First outlines the differences, and the answers will be VERY different depending on which it is.

You are in the wrong forum. Here we provide support for those with blogs that are hosted by wordpress.com. The forum for the independently hosted software you downloaded from wordpress.org which is different from ours here is at http://wordpress.org/support
