Importing Posts

  I imported posts from my previously self-hosted WordPress database but I only see 20-something posts when there should be a lot more.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi Mary,

  The importer failed during your import preventing all your posts from being imported. I have reset the importer on your site. Please try the import again and let us know if you run into any trouble.

  Thanks for that! I was able to access my previous database so I’ve tried the import again. Fingers crossed!

  Hi Mary Rojotte,

  I just checked and the importer failed a second time :( After some digging it looks like you may have a really long comment after your post Horror Writer Spotlight: Lorelei Bell in the import file. this comment seems to be what is causing the import to fail.

  See if you can find that comment in the export file and remove it then try the import again.

  Thanks for letting me know! I deleted that spam comment as well as a few others and imported again.

  It looks like it failed again, I’m afraid. I tired to import the content into a private test site and got the comment too long error. If you haven’t done so and still have access to the original site will you delete all spam comments before doing the export. Alternatively you can check the file for extra long comments.

  I have reach out out to our developers and requested that take a look as well. I’ll let you know when I hear back.

  It looks like the import job was successful that time! I see 94 published posts and 12 published pages. Does that look/sound correct to you?

  If so, I’ll close the request with our developers and you can get back to blogging.

  It’s close. I have 114 posts published in the old blog but I can add those back manually if I need to. Thanks for all your help!

  I did notice, you do have a few (24) posts in the trash. Have you checked there for the missing posts?
