Importing posts from GoDaddy Quick Blogcast
-
Hi, another WordPress newbie with another importing problem. I have a GoDaddy.com Quick Blogcast blog, only twenty-nine posts with a handful of comments. I tried importing it using the Moveable Type/Typepad importer, which successfully imported the comments, my categories, and three draft posts I never published. The importer claims to have imported all of the posts — it lists them by name as successfully imported — but they don’t show up on my “Posts” page, or anywhere else that I can see.
The exporter from Quick Blogcast exported the posts as a .txt file, if that helps. Thanks.

So it imported comments, categories, and drafts, but not any of the real ones? I wonder if there might be two export files, one with the posts and one with all the extraneous material? Longshot, though.
Worst-case scenario is you could just copy paste. For that many posts it’s doable, although it is a pain.

Thanks, Raincoaster. There’s only one export file, but just to be sure, I went back and exported the posts only — no comments or trackbacks — and tried importing the posts-only file. Same problem, though — the WordPress importer utility claims all of the posts have already been imported, identifying them each correctly by name. It just doesn’t include them on my “Posts” page, or anywhere else that I can see.

Have you looked on your Dashboard under Manage? Maybe they’re set as drafts for some reason.

Sorry I can’t be more help. I know virtually nothing about imports, but will try a forum search.

Well, I found a couple of threads that might be related:

Thanks for all of your efforts. I ended up importing them by the cut-and-paste method, since I had fewer than 30 posts to move.
