importing posts from htm or html
-
I had asked this question on the forums and was advised to contact help via the dashboard. I was previously posting as a guest on another WordPress format blog for many years. The owner recently took his site down and won’t be bringing it up. I want to export my posts from that site to my new one, but since the site is no longer online, I don’t have that option. And I didn’t have admin permissions to do that before anyway.
I do have htm copies of my posts and many of my posts are still available via the wayback machine. Is there a way to copy and load my posts to my new blog from the htm or html copies?

Just to confirm, you have each post individually saved on your computer?
If so, you can add those posts individually by copying and pasting the HTML into the HTML editor:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/#html-editorYou will need to do this for each post by creating a new post via your Dashboard -> Posts page. You can edit the date that they appear to have been published by using the Schedule a Post feature:

Thanks for the response evarlese. I did add a post and under Publish I edited the date to show the original date this was posted online (on the other, down, website). However under preview it shows as the current date, although on the dashboard under drafts, it lists the original date I had edited, Jan 2nd. If I publish, will the correct, January, date show up or will it still show the current date?

Yes – the post under the publish module is the one that will be displayed in the post when it is published.
